At 17:30hrs on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, NPRS was called to assist New Jersey Water with their effort to repair a sinkhole on Grove St. Squad Captain Dee Wright and President Steve Phillips responded with ESU Truck 24 to shed some light on the situation. The sinkhole was apparently the result of a leaking water main, that after several years of uncontrolled leaking had erroded enough of the land beneath the roadway to create a massive hole, said a representative from the water company. 24 and the NPRS crew provided light well into the evening until the North Plainfield Fire Department came to relieve the crew.
